This build focuses on both speed and hitting hard with fully charged heavy staff attacks. The speed at which you can build rune charges allows for a rapid fire attack and quick health regen in a pinch!

I am currently still testing variations and will likely make changes as the game gets updated.

Combat

Use Call of Ancients and Fellust to boost damage. With Call of Ancients, weapon damage is multiplied by [1.42 + Spirit x 0.0077]. With a full tilt in Spirit, you won't have many hits for Fellust as it is calculated with Courage.

Start with heavy flyblade attack for extra damage, stagger and to trigger Smite.

Use 4 consecutive light attacks while standing still to gain the full Grounded bonus, then alternate between a fully charged heavy and a few light attacks to proc Follow Up. Moving will reset your Grounded buff. It isn't necessary to fully charge the heavy to get the effects of Follow Up, but you will miss out on damage by not doing so.

With a maxed out Unhindered in the Staff skill tree, your heavy attacks hit 3 enemies at once and will sometimes go through terrain. This is the crowd control aspect of this build and makes light work of sieges with their large number of enemies. Use them often.

Pull smite when possible to further increase attack speed with the Quick Drey totem.

With the new updates in P16, rune charges build fast with this set up, so use them to your advantage against Agari and large groups. Stack your rune attacks with Call of Ancients for high damage output.

Additional Information

Tempers for staff to maximize speed and damage output: Arcane Alacrity x2, Follow Up x2, Conjuration x2, Arcane Barrage and Grounding Spell.

Grounding Spell can be swapped for a second Arcane Barrage if you are confident in your ability to either stand still for short periods or rebuild Grounded. If you enjoy dodging, keep it.

You are quite squishy with this build so be aware of that! With the combination of Tethren's ability to heal through the use of Conqueror and either Dabble Dredge or Rivers Revive attached to your weapon, you can easily bring your health back up if you do take a hit. (I have both healing totems to ensure that I have a constant heal.)

In Cogah it is best to avoid losing health as much as possible, especially if enemies are level 80 and up. This build is a quick burst and burn that will easily drop all Agari in under a minute, but the trade off is that a light wind can take you out.

Variations

Seathorn is interchangeable with all other staves, though your mileage may vary with Gystalt. It does not currently have the capability to build rune charges as fast as the others and so defeats the purpose of this build. It is limited by the overheat aspect and cool down time.

The flyblade you use is up to you. Precklies is the easiest to acquire and does not require you to spec into another virtue to wield it.

I prefer Archstorm as the rune for this build for more immediate damage, but The Hollowing is a viable option, though it does add a delay in the the rotation.

A Fencer (or Duelist, take your pick) build focused around Parries, Stagger and single target potential.

Disclaimer: This is not a min-maxed build, the focus here is to take a concept and make it as fun as possible in it's execution. As of P16, the most min-maxing you can do with your options is go for grip specific totems and use virtue pots, and i personally do not recommend you do either until you try the build and see it is fun for you personally.

Gear:
Espadarte to take advantage of the Rapier moveset and excellent rune gain on finishers. Mistgale deals decent damage and great stagger,
along Thunder Tail. Rivers Revive and Stocky Lodge provide sustain, Cervid Ward keeps up our lowest defensive stat.
No secondary is used since we don't rely on status or smite fishing.
Armor is Orengall (Set) for the excellent physical defense and stability it provides.
Triune Talisman adds 9 total virtue and is a very solid choice.
Tempers are 2x Swift Strike, 2x Vengeance, 2x Heightened Parry and 2x Unencumbered, we want fast aggression and to use the enemies attacks as openings instead of interruptions.
Pact is Duelo due to Bravada buffing our Virtues even more and Duo Duelo making our finishers and runes deal even more damage and stagger.

Gameplay:
We engage the fight taking on the tankiest opponent available, use their health bar to build up our rune charges and as soon as we can cast Mistgale use it to open the rest of the enemy group to finishers. At this point, your main focus should become taking disruptive units out of the fight (i.e. healers, casters and archers) to then clean up the remaining enemies.

Alternative options
If you feel confident in your parry timing, Heightened Parry is absolutely not a requirement and can be swapped out for another Temper. Ivader is likely a great option, if you have it available, as it will help dealing with the more HP intense bossfights you will encounter in Cogah as the levels get higher.

The Quack-adin. A paladin and their trusty Duck.

Disclaimer: This build is for fun, and while it has a certain purpose and can achieve it well, i wouldn't call it optimized for various reasons (playstyle choices). User discretion is strongly advised

Concept: A paladin build (not a Paladine build) that relies on Heal Preens as a sort of "Lay on Hands" healing effect. You are playing a front-liner with a strong amount of staying power, but you can also benefit from healing potential in a pinch.

Gear:
Any Shield weapon fits, my choice here is Lyke-Wake because it can have Savagery. Along our use of Forburn it gives use two statuses, Bleed to help the team with DPS and Fire to strip the enemy armor in case the boss is a bit too beefy for your DPS player/s.
We are going with Mora's Hand as a Pact due to how well it places itself between the unstoppable Tethren and the unkillable Bromius. It lacks a taunt or an armor buff, but Ember provides a Stability buff alongside a weapon damage buff by virtue of proccing Hungry Flame on cast. This means pressing Ember translates into a 25% damage increase, see the wiki page for more detailed info.
Inferno is just utility, it provides decent ranged damage even on low grace and applies a short Fire proc, helping strip armor. Ignus Wroth is our bread and butter arcanic, due to it's scaling on courage for the damage ticks and the crowd control it provides.
For Totems we are going with Heal Preens as explained before, Rivers Revive for personal sustain, Stocky Lodge for additional armor on rune and finally Thunder Tail as an additional interrupt. Our rune of choice is Forburn due to it applying Fire (therefore stripping armor) and because it's our shield bash attack.
Tempers on the weapon are up to preference mostly, my setup utilizes 2xUnencumbered for damage, Swift Strike for a bit of attack speed, 2xSavagery for extra DPS, then i have Fortified, Follow Up and Bounding Swipe to help with my running heavy attacks, which are how i usually engage the fight.
For armor we are using a full set of Arbearer armor. While it is true that this set provides marginally less physical defense than the Mendicant King set, it also provides higher Stability which is a very useful stat to have, especially since we are playing an aggressive "in-your-face" build.
Talisman is Molten Mora for as much HP as possible.

Pup stats: 5 Guts, 5 Endurance, 5 Heart. All of these help us, Guts gives Stability, Endurance is a huge HP buff and Heart makes us heal for 60% more on our Heal Preens procs.

Gameplay: You are the frontline of the team, you want to use Thunder Tail from your rune activations and your Ignus Wroth casts to disrupt enemy maneuvers and pressure them. When something is too tanky for you to manage by yourself, strip their armor with either Forburn or Inferno to help your party members with their damage. Use your Ember to become an absolutely uninterruptable tank. Unless you have a dedicated healer (unlikely but not impossible) you should have good priority on smite pulls. Of course you should coordinate with your team about that, I am not in any way telling you to steal smites from allies that require them for their builds to work. But if your team is struggling, start pulling smites with confidence.
Remember to summon and unsummon your wolf pup before fights, that way you're sure of having both the virtue buffs and the Endurance's 50% HP buff active.

Variation:
Since the healing aspect of the build can become more important depending on your team's performance, you can certainly look into striking Sullying Force on your weapon, making your healing output more reliable and also helping the team with more consistent smites if that is required.

Overview

Storm your enemies with a thousand lightnings and Spiritual Artillery. Overwhelm with staggering blows and emerge victorious.
This build is how I like to play my ode tempest. In essence the playstyle boils down to being immovable, while continuously being on the offense.

Virtues

This is a Spirit focused build. This means a few things:

The weakest physical Armour among all virtues
Highest Rune charge generation
Lowest Life possible
Highest Cool Down Reduction.
Access to Magick Weapons, Polearms and specific Longswords.

We will be using only weapons with 2 pips of spirit at minimum for 5 pips total.
Note that we do use the Triune Talisman and spec into all pact virtue passives for extra health and finisher/headshot multiplier.

Arcanics

Ode Tempest works very well for strategic control of a situation.

Use Seismor to distance tough opponents when you need to heal, or line a group up for Splitbolt.
Astra Sphere Primes opponents and stuns them, and when combined with Atmos Sphere will gain you full damage reflection for enemies in range.

The basic loop will be: go into a group -> set up both spheres, and start attacking.
Odiac with the two arcanics will make good use of Grounded as you are essentially immovable, and you can abuse that to chain powerful attacks.
Astra Sphere with any high stagger melee will open enemies up to finishers very quickly, allowing to either preform the finisher, or cast a magick rune aimed at the head for massive damage on agari.

When the shield is down remember to evade damage and use ranged attacks until it recovers quickly thanks to the high spirit.

Totems

Both weapons use two shared totems, and vary on the last two:

Quick Drey for increased attack speed.
Rivers Revive to heal up any incidental damage taken.

Odiac uses Voltaic Scurry to add massive damage to light attacks on enemies with a smite procced, and Stocky Lodge to compensate for lack of armour.
Duhk Halic uses Noble Nestling to increase damage when used in long combat by scaling spirit higher, and Dewclawer to increase the volley damage.
Use the Odiac for defensive/turret like fighting, and the duhk halic for chasing enemies and mobile play.

Runes

Archstorm Is a solid single shot rune for hitting stunned opponents. This is the main single target burst tool in your arsenal.
Splitbolt deals surprisingly high damage, and also has incredible reach. A bit tough to aim, but its one of the more fun runes in my opinion.

Tempers

Odiac is very much relying on Follow up as it provides 54 extra damage when chaining constant attacks. Grounding Spell is used to keep the attack speed while remaining in combat. Sullying Force Synergizes with Voltaic Scurry for spikes of damage.
Duhk Halic has Galvanic Strike for aura, and stagger+attack speed for usability and synergy with Astra Sphere
Other tempers are optional and up to taste.

Fun things that you can do with this build:

Seismor into Splitbolt with the galvanic strike effect looks amazing and also does nice damage.
Odiac can absolutely face-melt enemies when proccing voltaic scurry. triggering follow up and the ode tempest arcanics and going full spam with the light attack is surprisingly powerful.
Support your allies! Ode tempest can be quite helpful in mitigating large staggers and hits for squad-mates and you can reposition enemies that are attacking hurt allies with Seismor, letting them heal.

Possible Tweaks

Spirit Grace hybrid build, focusing on headshotting stunned enemies with heavy rune casts for stealth mult and headshot mult.
Swapping to primary magick staff and secondary flyblades for a full caster set up, with extremely high charge buildup and high smite chance for cooldown reduction.
