Overview

Kneel before the King of the Forest, lest you face its Wrath.
This build is my take on current Garren Rood. It focuses on finishers, and allows full and frequent use of his kit.

Virtues

This is a Grace focused build, with a touch of Spirit. This means a few things:

  1. Big Lethality Multiplier on finishers.
  2. Access to Orengall (Set) for high Physical Armour and Stability.
  3. Medium-low Life.
  4. Decent Cool Down Reduction.
  5. Access to Rapiers, with the fastest finisher animation available.
  6. Medium Rune Charge generation.

Note that we do use the Triune Talisman for a balanced stat investment and invest many points into pact passives for virtues.

Arcanics

Garren Rood has three main application of its arcanics:

  1. Behest -> Torment - deal high percentage damage to a single target, one-shotting normal foes and dealing half the health of bosses at the start of the encounter. This may also stun them and open them up to finishers
  2. Behest -> Melee hit -> Finisher - this is the bread and butter combo for humanoid foes. enemies under behest will become "pre-stunned" and receive massively increased stagger from the next attack that hits them, allowing to immediately stun small foes under level 40. Above that one might need to heavy attack, or attack multiple times to stun.
  3. Stampede - This is a great crowd clear arcanic, being able to kill enemy groups up to level 60. Do not use when trying to use finishers though, as the stags will stagger the enemy instead and break the CC.

The passives enable the use of more rune charges when in combat and more frequent use of Behest, and are recommended to invest into at least partially.

Weapons and Runes

We choose Navalha for its finisher animation as a true rapier (unlike Dewelion), and for being a primary so we can use Mistgale.
Mistgale Allows us to deal damage in range, and heavily stagger enemies into finishers when behest is on cooldown, or in cogah when enemies can take more than one hit.
The secondary is entirely optional, with the idea that it is for attacking enemies that are evasive/dangerous like Baliq or Wraith of Wastes.
One may choose to use either magick with Archstorm or flyblades with Picktrix as a secondary of choice, with flyblades allowing to smite fish Quick Drey when fighting.

Totems

For the Navalha:

Secondary can be built the same, but is up to preference.

Tempers

  • Sullying Force is used for frequent attack speed buffs and arcanic cooldown reduction, and Swift Strike gives passive attack speed.
  • Swooning Blow grants extra stagger to push enemies into finishers faster.
  • Unencumbered may be used to raise damage at the cost of no ranged option.
  • Sickness is just nice to have, as it looks pretty, but we dont rely on it.

Alternative Options:

  • Grimana can be used instead of a primary rapier with Flitsmoke, but damage potential is significantly lower on non-humanoid agari. Then the primary will be used to deal with those.

Fun things to do with this build:

  • Steamroll low level enemies with stampede
  • Go into rovgot ruins and cast behest into a room full of mendicant knights, then proceed to finish them one by one with lightning speed.
  • get hit intentionally and regain hit to trigger healheart, then rune-spam until everything is dead.
